Have you ever been to Disneyland?
If so, you may have had the time of your life and I really hope you had memories that truly last a lifetime.
I am going to do something right now that may be possibly frowned upon.
Much like magicians who are not supposed to share secrets on how the magic tricks come to life to ensure people are mesmerized – constantly, I am going to give you a behind the scenes story in hopes you’ll see that all business is show business, and it takes preparation.
I am sure many people (characters) can connect with this (of course the environment is different but – perception is reality):
*You will see me reference this – perception is reality quit often by the way.
Two guys walked up to my bar, I frisbeed two napkins in front of them, preparing them for their cocktails. “How are you doing tonight?” came quickly out of my mouth.
They both looked like kids in a candy store. They were looking everywhere. Girls, girls, girls (like the song). That is all they saw.
I moved on to the next guest and told these two guys I would be right back with them.
Bam! I am back. “What can I get you guys?”
“Wow, you have the best job on earth!” exclaimed one of the two guys.
“How can I get a job like this?” asked the other.
“I can’t believe you can keep your mind focused on what you do.”
You see this wasn’t Disneyland but to these two guys – at that time – this was the greatest show on earth.
We had cocktail waitresses walking around in lingerie with stiletto heels and cleavage in every direction.
What these gentlemen didn’t realize – just like – Disneyland is how much preparation goes on before the doors open.
They didn’t realize how much hard word, sweat and – sometimes – tears goes into making it through the night. The long hours it takes to make ‘magic’ happen so we can all create a place where dreams really do come true. The clean up afterwards.
I am not trying to reveal secrets to a magic trick or ruin someone’s dreams but the picture I am painting is that it take a lot of hard work to make dreams come true.
Take a moment out to appreciate what others have done to bring a moment of euphoria to your world. Even if it is the next day (or from this post), realize that many people are working hard to rock your world.
I didn’t mind all that these two guys saw. In fact, when I started out I didn’t see behind the scenes. I didn’t realize how much effort goes creating energy that makes peoples’ minds spin. Then, when I got dirty and went behind the scenes, I had a taste and at times it didn’t taste too good.
Enjoy, have fun, and live those memories that will last forever. Take care, show you appreciate those who may have to dress like Mickey or a Playboy Bunny to bring your dreams alive and say – thank you.
