See Yourself In The Future – Today

I knew two things I wanted to do when I was a young boy.

See the Big Picture

  1. I wanted to have my own business
  2. I wanted to help people

Many children dream of becoming a doctor, fireman or a police officer (I almost did become a police officer, but that’s another story). I could see the picture in my mind. I knew I would have my own business and I would be helping others.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I remember, as a young boy someone asking me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I replied, “I want to have my own company.” Boy did I take heat for that remark. I was teased but that didn’t stop me. I went out to the garage and found a piece of plywood, four used tires and a beat up chair. I used the tires as desk legs, placed the plywood on top and then covered it with a beat up piece of cloth. I pulled the chair back and sat down. It was my first desk. Much has changed since those days but even with change on the outside the picture in my mind remained clear.

Don't Wait For Death To Be Grateful

“Almost not making it back helped me see the world differently.”

I awoke with a feeling of being in a nightmare.
I couldn’t breathe. I was choking.
I could hear voices and see lights around me.

People were trying to bring me out of anesthesia. I faded back and then came to in a dimly lit room. Machines were pumping, lights were blinking and I was clueless where I was. Lost and almost without memory, I began to realize I was in ICU (Intensive Care Unit).

Two days earlier I remember feeling real fear for the first time…real fear, not just a moment of concern or discomfort.  My world was turned upside down without notice when I was told, while still in the hospital, that I had to have second surgery, only ten days after the first. The feeling I had was one that is almost indescribable. I had been under the knife several times in my life but this time I felt as if I wasn’t coming back. To say I was scared was an understatement. I was terrified.

Mix It Up – Be Creative with Your Life (Video)

Same old thing? I don’t think so… how to sauce things up in your life.
(Video or transcript)

I don’t know about you, but I get bored pretty easy. I’m sure in your
personal life as well as your professional life things can get monotonous.

We have a plain cheese pizza here, and I am sure a lot of people out there
eat plain cheese pizza and they think it’s going to be different tomorrow
night or next week. Instead of just going with the basics, why not try to
go ahead and sauce it up a little bit?
